This Acharya was a great Yogishvara. In the times of this Acharya there was a well-known Nastika by name Durdidivi. In the court of a Kashmir king of the time by name Surendra, (sister’s son of one Narendraditya), this Acharya argued with the Nastika and defeated him. At this point, the Deva Guru Brihaspati, who is actually said to have written the Charvaka Sutra-s, Himself came in the form of a human and argued with the Acharya. But the Acharya defeated Him too.
Brihaspati then took His real form, praised and blessed the Acharya and returned to His abode. The king, seeing this greatness of the Acharya, surrendered himself unto Him, and donated a large amount of land for the conduction of Dharmic activities.
श्रीसर्वज्ञसदाशिवबोधेन्द्रकृता पुण्यश्लोकमञ्जरी
दुर्दीदिविं समभिभूय तथाऽस्य साह्यासक्तं
च जीवम् अपवार्य सधैर्यम् उक्त्या।
सम्पूजितः सदसि राजसुरेन्द्रमुख्यैः योगी
सुरेन्द्रनियमी युयुजे पदे स्वे॥३९॥
महाराष्ट्रः सर्वैरपि च विनुतो माथुर इति प्रपन्नः
सन्न्यासं रस-वसु-जलध्यग्निषु (३४८६) कलेः।
दशैवाध्युष्याब्दान् अधिमठम् अयं योगितिलकः
सुरेन्द्रः स्वं मार्गे प्रतिपदि सिते प्राप निलयम्॥४०॥
॥ श्रीसदाशिवेन्द्रसरस्वतीश्रीचरणविरचिता जगद्गुरु-रत्न-माला ॥
विवदन् धिषणेन साधु दुर्दीदिवि-साह्याय समागतेन सार्धम् ।
जयि-जीर्ण-सुरेन्द्र-भूमि-भोगी जयतान्नः सुधिये सुरेन्द्र-योगी ॥ ४७ ॥
॥ पञ्चषष्टितमैः पीठाधिपतिभिः श्रीमत्सुदर्शनमहादेवेन्द्रसरस्वतीश्रीचरणैः प्रणीतः श्री-काञ्ची-कामकोटि-पीठ-जगद्-गुरु-परम्परा-स्तवः ॥ (१८) माया-लोकायती-भूत-बृहस्पति-मदापहान् ।
